welcome back, faithful people.
here we are with senior year. it's going well so far. german is a blast, I wish I would've taken it sooner than later. audio production is mostly comical due to the fun people involved, mostly boys. other than that, life is as normal. with more jazz. i just wish i knew what i was doing in jazz band.
the nyu application is progressing. hard to believe i could possibly be living and breathing in new york city this time next year. creepy, but good.
party this saturday night @ 5422. representin the birthdays of kadda and alli.

| glorious summer. for the first time in forever i don't have a day job. this has been leading to days spent working out, relaxing at the pool, redecorating the el room-o, practicing, listening to the new weezer, and working at 6 on the weekends.
austria was fabulous, naturally. i tested out my deutsch skills on a few occasions, and only received one nasty remark in return during the entire trip. not bad, i'd say. the performances were good fun, but i don't think another big band trip is in the near future for me, or i might have to hurt some people.
500 weekend didn't turn out quite like we were told, but i did see all the race car drivers including danica, for the big birthday/race after party that we hosted. as for actors: patrick dempsey from grey's anatomy and ashley judd. F1 weekend was pretty good. i met tony kanaan and dan wheldon (sp?) and went to their after party down the street when the bar closed, thanks to one of my security buddies. i think an actor from ER was there as well. but i'm really lame and can't recognize anyone.
went to the dmb show last monday. it always proves 2 things. 1. carter beauford is, was, and will always be a beast. 2. boyd tinsley gives me hope that one day, i too may become a "professional violinst" because if he can, we all can.
peace. | | |
| - - - well well. here we are in the midst of finals week. Studying? hah.
the new job is going well. everyone should probably come in once during their life. if nothing else, to see the spiffy bathrooms. quick review of the staff: owners/investors: pretty nice, extremely wealthy. managers: half nice, half rude security boys: nice guys, always lookin pimp in suits. boy bartendars: eh. they always talk about which girl they've slept with. not attractive girl bartendars: eh, again barbacks: quality and very hardworking servers: drama. but about 3 of the 25 are pretty cool and haven't had boob jobs or worked as strippers. hostesses: rock. but i'm biased, since i am one dj: the coolest person ever, as he is british and his name is eddie. coolest clients: pacers and colts, various rich people.
how fun is this....Guest list for indy 500 weekend at 6: Adam Sandler, Tara Reid, and Chris Rock, plus all the drivers from the race. tips, please.
almost time for austria. i'd better get my yodel on.

| another excerpt from the book:
Another thing my father taught me was an attitude of sociability and eagerness to learn from others. In those days most overland travel was done by train, and Father taught me that one should delight in the contacts one makes on journeys, for the people we meet and those who sit next to us or opposite us on trains or planes have been placed there by destiny. Therefore, greet them. It may lead to a conversation. Learn to be a good listener. The other person lives a quite different kind of life from you, and knows something you don't yourself, and you are bound to learn something. Rather than talking yourself, learn to draw the other person out, and above all listen. You will enjoy it. This is was formed the basis of my own thoughts and conduct with regard to pleasant human relations, humanity, love harmony, improvement of one's fate, the grasping of opportunity, and so on.
| Just a few more weeks. In the meantime, we've got some great weather to help us through. You know things are looking up when they start getting some mean games of frisbee and football on the mall. Granted, I can only wistfully watch from my prison cell/practice room, but hey, not much longer.
Also in the meantime: 6 opens this week. If you're around on Thursday night, see me or court for an invite to get in. I went down to help clean the yesterday...it's gonna be hott, so you'd better make plans to attend sometime soon.
p.s. this book is great. Dr. Suzuki believed every child has ability, where many people believe talent is inborn. He promoted the idea that if a child is slow, it because of a deficiency in his environment, educational or otherwise. By creating his method of teaching music, he really hoped to express a child's potential, but also to bring out the best in them as human beings. "The only concern for parents should be to bring up their children as noble human beings. That is sufficient. If this is not their greatest hope, in the end the child may take a road contrary to their expectations. Yes, this boy may play violin very well, but we must try to make him splendid in mind and heart also."
